District Wellness Policy Report
The Lexington County School District One Food Service and Nutrition office is required by the SC State Department of Education and USDA to provide Nutrition Education opportunities for all students.
The Nutrition Nuggets curriculum is designed for youth in after-school settings. Each of the 12 lessons provides basic nutrition information as well as two activities that engage participants in a variety of food-related tasks. This curriculum provides opportunities for students to develop cooking skills and to try new foods with recipes that are quick and easy to make.
The Teen Food & Fitness curriculum is designed to improve student's eating and exercise habits, help teens come to school ready to learn, meet the federal mandate on nutrition education, provide practical tips reviewed by a registered dietitian, and educate families about healthy habits at home.
To learn more about Nutrition Nuggets or Teen Food & Fitness, see the attached PDF documents, contact Sally Nicholson (snicholson@lexington1.net) or call 803-821-1170.
